NEW NATURE
An Immersive Media and Climate Science Exchange between Germany - Canada - US - Mexico
Between May and December 2020 the Goethe-Institut Montreal is inviting leading climate scientists, artists, and technical experts from Canada, Germany, Mexico and the United States working on the forefront of immersive technologies to connect and share their explorations on climate change and reflect on desirable futures.
This exchange aims to foster international exchange of knowledge by creating the ideal setting for networking, collaboration and co-production, while also addressing the necessity to reimagine our relationship to Nature and rethinking the language and modes by which we communicate about scientific climate research.
Focusing on the shared, yet invisible element of air, the participants shape/discuss new approaches to future-oriented science storytelling that draw from the thrilling developments of immersive media – such as public and virtual installations, projections, and virtual, augmented and mixed reality.
New Nature is a project by the Goethe-Institut, realized with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, and curated by Canadian documentary filmmaker and independent curator Samara Chadwick.
Partners include: the National Film Board of Canada, Centre Phi, Milieux Institute at Concordia University, Museum of the Moving Image, Massive Science, and Retune - Creative Technology Platform.
NEW NATURE is bringing together leading climate scientists, artists, and creators from Canada, Germany, Mexico and the United States working on the forefront of immersive technologies to network, exchange knowledge, and to participate in conversations exploring the newest frontiers of our climate science, education, and immersion.
